Day Four – St. Thomas
We arrived at the new dock area at St. Thomas early in the morning; the Oasis of the Seas is too large to fit at the existing dock area, so an entirely new place was built for it and other larger ships. It is so nice to be able to dock at a port rather than tender into it!
We had an early excursion called the BOSS underwater adventure, so Vince, Candy, the kids, and I went off the ship fairly early in the morning. One nice feature of the Oasis is its ‘gangway’ button on the elevator-you don’t have to remember which deck is the one where you need to get off the ship in port.
Meeting our tour group was easy once we got to the pier area; and soon we were on our way via boat to the site where we would ride the underwater ’scooters’ and snorkel for awhile. The scooters are outfitted with a modified helmet, so Read the rest of this entry »

Restaurant Marrakesh
Epcot® has a large variety of foods to try. As you make your way around World Showcase you will find authentic food in each country.
One of my family’s favorite places to eat is in Japan at Teppan Edo. Tip: You must have a reservation. Even if you have been in the past and did not have a reservation, it is a must now, as this restaurant has grown so much in popularity! The Teppanyaki Dining Room got refreshed décor and a new name in 2007 but the “teppan” dining Read the rest of this entry »

Endless Entertainment!
Part 4 – Day Three – At Sea
Another day at sea; my favorite!! To be honest, when I booked this trip, I picked dates that worked for our schedule (minimal days out of school for the kids) to go on the Oasis of the Seas, and the port calls were quite secondary.Aunt Candy has been getting up at 6 am to work out in the gym in the mornings, and she’s been enjoying it a lot. Wendy has been going there with her at times, and they’ve attended some of the seminars about weight management, which have been entertaining and informative.
The ice rink had ‘advanced skating,’ which was a session for guests who brought their own skates. At this session, only Wendy and Erin were on the ice, and it was a spoiling moment to have the rink all to themselves! They were able to practice their spins and fancy moves, and occasionally, Read the rest of this entry »

Day Two – At Sea
As you step onto an elevator on the Oasis of the Seas, you’ll see the day of the week on a brass plaque on the elevator floor. We guessed that every night, the “elevator gnomes” changed the day to help guests keep track of the days during their vacation. On Saturday, one young man looked at us, pointed to the floor, and said, “Saturday. Next time you see that, you won’t want to see it because it means it’s the end of your trip.”
We love to start our mornings with room service bringing some pastries, fruit, and most importantly, hot water for our morning coffee! Aunt Candy was up at 6, off to the gym to work out. We agreed to meet Dad for breakfast at a restaurant at 9 am and we found the first really crowded place-WindJammer Café, where there was buffet stations conveniently spread out with a lot of food options. This morning, it was simply overrun by people who could not find a place to sit to eat breakfast. I was hopeful we wouldn’t have situations like this during the week. Read the rest of this entry »
